About Us

Who is CLGP?

CHERP Locally Grown Power is a program of CHERP Inc., (Community Home Energy Retrofit Project) a California-based 501(c)(3) non-profit, social enterprise, in an exclusive liscencing agreement with idealPV deploying their patented solar technology.

We are a dedicated, volunteer group of Claremont and Pomona residents, community organizations and students working hard to take our cities to net zero energy, create clean energy jobs, stimulate the local economy and address our local issues of environmental justice.

Our Mission

Sustainable Energy AND Sustainable Economics

We are creating the model for the first ever, non-profit solar panel assembly factory in the world...
Designed to be replicable in YOUR city.

It is now possible for every city to create their own energy by combining radically simplified solar technology with a non-profit business model. This allows us to create a locally owned and operated, non-profit, 5,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant that produces higher quality solar panels, skillfully made and carefully installed and warranted, by local workers/residents of our community. This keeps all the energy savings and profits generated, inside our community, building our local economy. Our mission with Phase I of CLGP is to prove the model is possible - and then help other cities replicate our successes.
